People who work as volunteers sometimes find themselves playing the role of ‘accidental counsellor’ to their clients.
A free workshop next month will offer practical advice to volunteers about how to help people who are emotionally distressed or who need some extra help.
The Centre for Community Welfare Training is presenting the training on Tuesday 7 June from 9am to 5pm at Moruya Golf Club.
Eurobodalla Council is funding the workshop and coordinator of community development Zoe Morgan says 10 people have booked in already.
“Volunteers often find themselves in a counselling role and this training will show them how respond with confidence to their clients in these difficult situations,” Ms Morgan said.
“We think this will be a really beneficial workshop for Eurobodalla’s volunteers and I encourage them to come along for the day.”
