Batemans Bay is set to join the co-working revolution with a new space under development for creative professionals, start-ups and the IT sector.

Co-working spaces, where freelancers and independent professionals base themselves in a shared facility, have boomed in recent years as a growing number of people realise the limitations of working from home.

Council’s Business Assistance Manager Sarah Cooper has been working with two local digital production companies to establish SouthTribe. “This Renew Eurobodalla space, which will be located in the Batemans Bay CBD, offers business growth opportunities through networking, idea generation and greater productivity.

“Co-working spaces generate their own energy. When you put creatively driven people in the same place where they can focus on what they do best, you see collaborations and support networks develop that foster new business and attract clients,” Ms Cooper said.

SouthTribe founding partner Isabel Darling, from local production company Torchlight Media, said the initiative is being driven by local freelancers and entrepreneurs who are wanting the kind of creative work spaces now found in Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne.

“This is something we have been working toward for some time,” she said. “SouthTribe is a place where our talented local freelancers and innovators can create and wow clients in a way that is hard to do from a home-based office. It’s a simple and effective way to add value to each individual business, as well as the Batemans Bay brand, as a place of creativity and innovation.”

The co-working space will house full-time and part-time desks, meeting and creative spaces, training spaces and kitchen facilities. Freelancers and business people wanting more information on the SouthTribe co-working space can email [email protected] or visit the SouthTribe facebook page.
