Traffic on the Kings Highway at the roadworks site east of Nelligen will be reduced to single lane over the long weekend and Eurobodalla Council says drivers coming to the coast can expect delays.
An unexpected construction delay has caused the lane closure for traffic safety reasons.
Temporary street lights have been installed, as well as extra vehicle message boards and signage, and Council says traffic queues will be monitored all weekend.
Council is asking drivers to leave extra time to reach the coast and be ready for delays at the site.
Regular traffic flows should resume early next week.
The roadworks are to straighten out a one-kilometre stretch of road to improve safety. Costing $5.3 million, the project is funded by NSW Roads and Maritime Services.
