Preparations are well under way for the presentation of 2016 Basil Sellers Art Prize. The biennial competition, worth $15,000 in prize money, opens on Monday 2 May for artists living in the Eurobodalla, Bega Valley, Cooma-Monaro, the Snowy River and Bombala shires.

All artworks entered must be original, one-off works only, and the prize is open to a range of art forms.

The call for entries for the prize, which is supported by collector of art, patron and philanthropist Mr Basil Sellers, closes at 4.30pm on Monday 27 June2016.

Entrants are encouraged to submit high-quality digital images of their works as the judges will use these images to select the final pieces for exhibition at the Mechanics Institute in Moruya from 14 to 27 October 2016.

The winning work will be selected from the hung exhibition.

The 2016 Basil Sellers Art Prize will be judged by Dr Janda Gooding, Deputy Director Collections and Content, National Museum of Australia; Tony Oates, Curator Exhibitions, Drill Hall Gallery, Australian National University Canberra; and Deborah Clark,Senior Curator Visual Arts, Canberra Museum and Gallery.

The winning entry is acquisitive and will be placed in Mr Seller’s private collection.
