Traffic flow and pedestrian safety on Riverside Drive in Narooma is set to improve when Eurobodalla Council constructs a new roundabout at the intersection with Field Street.

It will be similar in size and design to the roundabout further along Riverside Drive at the McMillan Road intersection.

Work will get underway after the ANZAC long weekend and Council says the project will see around 220 metres of road rebuilt between McMillan Road and Burrawang Street to include the new roundabout.

A new pedestrian refuge island and pathway will link Field Street to Riverside Drive, providing safe access from the library and community centre precinct to the waterfront and skatepark.

Stormwater drainage will be upgraded as part of the project, and new kerb and guttering will be installed on both sides of the road.

In the early stages of the work, motorists can expect short delays on Riverside Drive between 6.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. As the work progresses, detours will be put in place and motorists are asked to drive slowly in the area and keep an eye out for signage.

The work should be finished by the end of June.
