Short films and photographs featuring Eurobodalla’s World War One service men and women will be on display in Eurobodalla’s libraries this week to celebrate ANZAC Day.
The two films were made by local filmmaker Ian Hibberson, who will attend the three screenings for a floor talk and to guide viewers through the process of searching for family members who served in WW1.
Moruya veteran Leopold Frankline De Saxe, born 1893, is the subject of the first film, while the second film examines the life of Benjamin Charles Hutchings, known as Uncle Charles.
Photos from the era are on display in the libraries from Monday 18 to Monday 25 April to complement the films and feature local service men and women in WW1 locations throughout Europe and Africa.
Everyone is welcome to come along to the free films on Tuesday 19 April at Batemans Bay library from 5.30pm to 7pm, at Narooma library on Wednesday 20 April from 11am to 12.30pm, and at Moruya library on Thursday 20 April from 5.30pm to 7pm.
Council’s libraries will host similar WW1 short film and photo events later this year in July and November. The films have been created using a grant from the Anzac Centenary Arts and Culture Fund.
