Almost forty per cent of drowning deaths in Australia are people aged over 55 years. With this in mind, Eurobodalla Council is introducing the ‘Grey Medallion’ this month, a free water safety and lifesaving skills initiative for older adults.
To be held over four weeks at Moruya Swimming Pool, the Grey Medallion is a combined theory and practical program that will teach personal survival techniques to people aged over 55, as well as improve their swimming skills, water safety knowledge, and their ability to deal with emergency situations.
The program is free and starts on 25 February, continuing each Thursday from 10am to 12pm until 17 March.
Bookings are essential by calling Council’s Zoe Morgan on 02 4474 7470.
