Council is asking the community, event organisers, and business operators to express their interest in running events or commercial activities at Council parks and facilities throughout Eurobodalla.

Events and activities can be one-off or for specific dates over a number of years.

The NSW Government requires that Council conduct this open and competitive process for issuing licences to conduct activities on Council-managed public reserves.

Expressions of Interest were called in December for events at Corrigans Reserve at Batehaven, Mackay Park in Batemans Bay and Narooma’s NATA Oval, and now Council wants to hear from people considering events at all other locations.

Mayor Lindsay Brown says the details to be supplied at this Expression of Interest stage are not onerous. “This phase is about giving the entire community the opportunity to register their interest,” he said.

“If venues are available, licenses can still be issued throughout the year, but this way organisers can secure space for regular events and business activities.”

If more than one Expression of Interest is received for the same venue and times, a selective tender process will be conducted that will require more detailed information from the applicants.

Information about the Expressions of Interest process can be found at www.esc.nsw.gov.au.

Meanwhile, a selective tender process is currently underway for NATA Oval, where the South Coast Hunters Club and the Animal Justice Party NSW have both applied to run an event on the June long weekend following Council’s first round of Expressions of Interest in December.

This selective tender process closes on 29 February and Council will decide at its meeting on 22 March which group receives the five-year event license. The criteria to be considered includes economic activity, future growth potential, sustainability and other benefits to the community. The South Coast Hunters Club has a license to run HuntFest on the June long weekend at NATA Oval until 31 May 2018.
