Council's CBD improvements continue in Batemans Bay, with more work underway in Perry Street.
Over the next month or so, the footpath on the eastern side of the road, south of Perry Lane, will be reconstructed and resurfaced.
Council’s works manager Tony Swallow says the aim is to de-clutter the footpath to create more room for pedestrians to move around with ease in the busy shopping precinct.
“Several signs and street light poles will be relocated and the garden beds will be rearranged along the length of the footpath opposite the Village Centre shopping centre,” he said.
“Moving the poles and rearranging the plantings will create more space and really improve how Perry Street looks and works.
Mr Swallow said that on occasion it will be necessary to close off an entrance to the paid parking area while the other entrance remains open. “Detours for pedestrian safety will be in place and every effort will be made to minimise disruptions to traffic,” he said.
“We’re aiming to get in and out quickly, finishing up the project before the busy Easter period.
“We doorknocked the local businesses adjacent to the works last week, and as always we thank them and shoppers for their patience while our crews are at work.”
