Eurobodalla’s sporting families will soon have better and safer access to Bodalla sportsground, with Eurobodalla Council preparing to build a new car park to service the popular playing fields.
The sealed car park and new entrance road will mean people no longer need to park on surrounding streets or cross the highway to get to the sportsground.
To be located on the northern side of the oval with a new entrance road next to the tennis courts, the car park is designed to allow for any future expansion of the oval.
The project will be completed in stages. The first stage will provide up to 74 car spaces and will include the new entrance road and preparatory works for future stages.
Construction work on this initial stage will commence in March and be finished by July. Some existing trees and vegetation will be cleared as part of the site preparation, and fill material will be brought onto the site to make the area level.
The works will cost $375,000 and are funded from Council’s special rate variation.
Additional stages of the project will see the car spaces increased to approximately 160 in total, and will be completed over the coming years as funding becomes available.
Copies of the car park plan are available at the Bodalla Post Office and in other local businesses, as well as on our Bodalla Oval project web page.
Residents are invited to make written feedback about the plan until Friday 12 February.
