Cadgee Bridge on Eurobodalla Road has been washed away in flash flooding.

The crossing is closed indefinitely while Eurobodalla Shire Council determines the extent of the damage and undertakes repairs. Council staff have put up closure signs and will be putting diversions in place once it is safe to do so.

The bridge crosses the Tuross River outside of Cadgee and drivers are asked to avoid the crossing until further notice.

The cost of repairs required as a result of the flood damage is not yet known. Council is assessing damage associated with the recent flooding as the water recedes and it becomes safe for Council staff to access the affected areas.

Given the nature and scale of the recent rain event, Council has applied for a Natural Disaster declaration which will enable Council to access funding to assist the community with the costs of repairing the damage caused by the flooding.

Many other roads and bridges in Eurobodalla have been affected by the heavy rain this week. Council crews will continue to assess the conditions at these bridges throughout the day.

Drivers are reminded not to enter flood water and to phone the local State Emergency Service (SES) on 132 500 for urgent help during a storm or flood.
