Skateboard, scooter and BMX riders of all ages are invited to two free competition days this weekend on Saturday 9 January at South Durras skate park and Sunday 10 January at Broulee skate park, both from 12 to 4pm.
Professional stunt riders from Big Air School are visiting Eurobodalla to host the competitions. They will run skills workshops, demonstrate some tricks and give away prizes including wheels and other accessories and plenty of skating and BMX brand merchandise.
There will be live DJ music and food and drinks for sale from the Durras Progress Association on Saturday, and the Broulee Boardriders and Single Fin Gypsy on Sunday.
The skate days are part of Eurobodalla Shire Council's ongoing Big Air Tri Series, where participants can earn points at different events throughout the year to add to their overall tally.
There will be two more skate competitions during Youth Week in April this year. At the final event of 2016, the lucky winners who have earned the most overall points will receive major prizes including skateboards, handlebars, and professional skate decks.
Mayor Lindsay Brown says that the skate days aim to provide an affordable and active entertainment option for local and visiting children, young people and families.
'The Big Air Tri series is a great opportunity for young people to have some fun outdoors and learn new skills at regular free events that are organised just for them,' said Clr Brown.
'We want to make the most of Eurobodalla's skate facilities all year round. We've run these skate competitions since 2014, and it's been great to see so many people come along and get involved.'
The skate events are free, and all participants must wear a helmet. There will be helmets available to borrow. You can even borrow a set of wheels from Big Air School on the day if you can't bring your own.
People under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign a waiver form, which you can download or get from the registration desk at the events.
