MoU to enhance knowledge economy

All three parties have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create a framework that will build upon the city’s already-significant position as a leading provider of education and training to students from across the country and overseas.

Under the partnership, the three institutions will work together on major projects such as a master plan for the Thurgoona Education Precinct, the Smart Community Framework, planning for the Albury Health Precinct and relevant Two Cities One Community projects including cross-border anomalies, transport connectivity and innovation in waste management.

AlburyCity Mayor Kevin Mack said the MoU would provide a platform for growing the city’s economy by attracting new residents, developing new educational opportunities and embracing smart technology in a rapidly-changing digital age.

“Our community is very fortunate to have outstanding education providers in Charles Sturt and TAFE – as well as excellent schools – so this opportunity to work together will pave the way for even more advancements as we develop our knowledge economy,” he said.

“The benefits will also flow to the wider regional community, with some of the exciting initiatives in our Two Cities One Community partnership with Wodonga Council to benefit from our growing education base.”

The signing of the agreement paves the way for all three organisations to provide mutual support as they work together to improve the community’s social, economic and environmental outcomes.

“This is about working with our education and business partners to promote liveability, sustainability and progress in our city and it’s exciting to be formally beginning this journey together to make Albury an even better place to live, work and invest,” Cr Mack said.
