What’s new?
Under the new Code, Council will hold a public forum from 6.30 to 7.30pm prior to each Ordinary or Extraordinary Meeting of the Council for the purpose of hearing oral submissions from members of the public on items of business to be considered at the meeting. All members of the public are welcome to attend the Public Forum.
Following the Public Forum, the Council meeting will commence at 7.30pm and items discussed at the Public Forum will not be brought forward at the Council meeting.
Speaking at the Public Forum
Please note the following information if you wish to address Councillors at the Public Forum:
Applications to speak at the public forum must be received by 4pm on the day on which the public forum is to be held and must identify the item of business on the agenda of the Council Meeting the person wishes to speak on, and whether they wish to speak ‘for’ or ‘against’ the item. A person may apply to speak on no more than two (2) items of business on the agenda of the Council meeting. No more than two (2) speakers are to be permitted to speak ‘for’ or ‘against’ each item of business on the agenda for the Council Meeting. Any applications to speak that exceed the first two registered speakers will be placed on a wait list and if there is time available and at the discretion of Council, an opportunity may be offered to address the Forum.Have Your Say
