Council is calling for expressions of interest from people interested in making a difference in their community to join the Macedon Ranges Shire Health and Wellbeing Advisory Committee.
The committee was established in 2014 and provides strategic input and advice on a wide range of Council programs and services.
Chief Executive Officer, Margot Stork said this was a great opportunity for proactive residents to positively contribute to Council’s decision-making.
“Due to recent vacancies we are looking for two new members to join the committee, which includes a diverse group of people from a broad range of age groups and includes two youth ambassadors,” she said.
The committee is made up of 14 community representatives and three Councillors, with eligible nominees required to live or work in the Macedon Ranges Shire, be actively involved in the community and have a good understanding of local and regional issues.
Ms Stork said that Council is particularly interested in hearing from people with a tertiary qualification in natural resource management, ecology, environmental management, sustainability policy, regenerative agriculture or a like discipline, or the equivalent work experience in one or more of these fields.
The committee meets quarterly, and the newly appointed community members will serve for a four year term unless resolved otherwise by Council.
Upon appointment the successful candidate will be provided with an overview of the committee’s role and an opportunity to ask questions.
“If you want to positively contribute to the health and wellbeing of people who live and work in our shire, and you are active in your community, consider putting yourself forward,” she said.
“Council recognises that the majority, if not all, of our activities impact on the health and wellbeing of residents, so it’s really important that we hear from the community directly.”
