If you manage a project that provides recreation opportunities or improves recreation facilities, helps the environment or benefits the broader community, thousands of dollars in support will soon be available as part of Council’s Community Grants program.
Council’s Community Grants Program helps local not-for-profit organisations and clubs with grants of up to $6000 to assist them in continuing to provide their programs in our community.
Applications for our latest round of Community Grants open early next month in the following areas:
Recreation Development (up to $1000) Recreation Facilities Upgrade (up to $6000) Environmental Project (up to $4000) Community Project (up to $6000)An information evening explaining everything from how to apply through to which category would suit your project will be held Thursday 1 August 2019 at 5.30pm at Council’s Deakin Avenue Service Centre.
This event will include opportunities to speak directly to Council staff that manage each of the specific grant areas.
Ouyen and Mallee Track residents can contact Council on (03) 5018 8100 to arrange an appointment to speak to a Grant Officer.
The Community Grants program helps local not-for-profit organisations and clubs achieve outcomes in line with the objectives of our Community and Council Plan 2017 – 2021, whilst improving outcomes for users of facilities and services provided by applicants.
Mildura Mayor Simon Clemence encouraged groups and individuals to come along and learn more about funding opportunities available to them, and how to apply.
“We’re fortunate in our region to have numerous groups and individuals who are so passionate about their projects and initiatives, volunteering countless hours of their own time,” Cr Clemence said.
“It would be so disappointing if all this great work went to waste due a need for funding, which is where our Community Grants program can play a role.
“We’re aiming to ensure funding isn’t the major obstacle to their project becoming a reality, or at a minimum, at least providing some financial support to help them along.
“Next month’s information session is the ideal opportunity to not only learn about our grants program, but importantly, learn about the application process, which can make it easier, and hopefully, more successful.”
Next month’s information evening will precede the opening of applications for grants on 5 August 2019. Applications will be accepted until 4pm on Monday 16 September.
