More than 200 students gathered at AlburyCity’s 'Waterview' treatment site for a revegetation process that will continue over the next five to ten years.
This program aims to restore the site from a softwood plantation to a more natural box gum grassy woodland.
The main activity took place on Wednesday 24 July when approximately 100 students planted native trees with the support of AlburyCity staff.
Other activities included the construction of ‘bee hotels’, bushwalking and HalveWaste demonstrations.
Restoring native bushland provides habitat for native animals, prevents erosion and assists in improving water quality in our creeks and rivers.
National Tree Day for the wider community will be held on Sunday 28 July, at Waterview Road, along the next stage of the Wagirra Trail.
