The 2019 Northern Outback Business Awards will be hosted in Mount Isa on Saturday November 9 with organisers promising exciting changes to this year's event. Commerce North West president Travis Crowther said the night which recognises excellence in business will welcome changes this year to bring the event in line with other awards programs of national significance. "In 2019 we will be introducing a full online system for both nominations and submissions; a move that is sure to be welcomed, streamlining the process and allowing nominees to log in and out of their submissions as they need and keep track of their progress, important updates and alike all in one place," Mr Crowther said. "We will also be revamping the awards categories and introducing prize money and broader overarching categories now set to pit business excellence in any field against one an another, with a focus on business size and turnover." Mr Crowther said they had reduced the number of business based awards but had aimed to allow those in business who succeed in all areas of operations to shine. "We are referencing National Awards programs, members and past nominees and winners feedback and suggestions as the basis of our revamp," he said, The Northern Outback Business Awards will be hosted at Mount Isa's Buchanan Park Entertainment Centre with the reworked program allowing for an increase in entertainment in the nights celebrations. Energy infrastructure company Jemena will be naming rights sponsor. Jonathan Spink, Jemena's General Manager Major Projects said they were proud to support this important regional event,. "The awards acknowledge and recognise local businesses for the vital role they play in creating jobs, employing and training people, for helping to improve the prosperity of Mount Isa, the region and Australia, and for their part in community sustainably and development," Mr Spink said. "Jemena's support recognises this and also the value Jemena places on the backing we've had from local businesses while developing and now operating the Northern Gas Pipeline". The awards are open to businesses in the local Government areas of Boulia, Burke, Carpentaria, Cloncurry, Croydon, Doomadgee, Etheridge, Flinders, McKinlay, Mornington, Mount Isa and Richmond.
