Council is warmly encouraging all local businesses to join in a new initiative to help make Baw Baw more family friendly.
The Family Friendly Shops initiative aims to make it easier for residents and visitors with children to plan outings and frequent our local businesses, knowing they’ll have access to family friendly services and amenities and they need.
Any type of business can choose to participate in this project by displaying a combination of Family Friendly stickers, which will allow families to easily identify where they can access services and facilities they need when shopping in the shire.
The sticker system is as an easy and eye-catching way to let families know that facilities like a parent room for feeding, or a toilet with change facilities are available without the obligation of making a purchase.
With a growing number of new families moving to the area becoming family friendly (or showing off your existing family friendly features) makes good sense for businesses. It can be a great tool for attracting new customers, increasing customer retention, and as a promotional tool to increase customer satisfaction and raise your profile on social media and rating websites.
Registering your business is free and easy. Simply visit the Family Friendly Shops webpage. There, you’ll find an information pack and an online registration form.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Cr Mikaela Power
“Council is actively exploring new opportunities to make Baw Baw an even more welcoming destination for families.
This initiative will not only help parents with young children to feel more welcome when they’re out and about, it’ll also be an opportunity for local businesses to be recognised for their family friendly features and even attract new customers.
I encourage all local businesses operators to jump on board to help us to create a more friendly community for everyone.”
