The Community Recycling Centre (CRC) network across the Mid North Coast has collected almost a million kilograms of household problem wastes since they opened (the first opened in 2015). These materials have been recycled where possible and appropriately disposed of where no recycling option is available. This is a great result for our community and our environment. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this figure.

Bellingen, MIDWASTE and the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) continue working together to provide local residents with this free, safe and easy disposal method for household problem wastes, including:

Old paint Batteries (household and car) Oils Smoke detectors Light bulbs Gas bottles and Fire extinguishers

Join the trend and drop off household quantities of these items for free at your local CRC.

“Residents in the Bellingen Shire have appropriately disposed of 42,851kgs of household problem wastes since the CRC shed at the Raleigh Waste Management Centre opened” said Bellingen Shire Mayor, Cr Dominic King.

“This means that these products don’t end up in landfill or down drains contaminating our beautiful waterways”.

This Project is a NSW EPA Waste Less, Recycle More initiative funded from the Waste Levy.
