Thoona CWA donates to Rural Outreach program

The Council has received a $1,000 donation from the Thoona Country Women’s Association (CWA) to go toward the Rural Outreach Program.

The Council’s Rural Outreach program provides the link between rural residents and appropriate services that can assist and support people to self-manage their health and wellbeing.

Rural Outreach Worker, Ivan Lister visits residents in their own environment to discuss their issues and concerns and possible actions or referrals.

The Thoona CWA branch has 18 members. Leilani Tomaszewski, Freelance Line Producer and Production Manager contributed $500 to the $1000 donation to go toward local farmers doing it tough during dry conditions. Ms Tomaszewski was impressed by the hospitality of the Thoona CWA while she was working in the area to film an advertisement in November 2018.

Mayor, Cr Scott Upston, said this donation is further recognition of the importance of the Rural Outreach Program.

“The work of the Rural Outreach Worker is critical,” said Cr Upston. “We are very grateful to the Thoona CWA for their donation and their recognition of the important role this service has in our community.”

Referrals to the Rural Outreach Worker can come from sources including the family, community and professional sources and individuals.
