Butler St Reserve closed for stage 1 of Byron Bay bypass

Published on 05 July 2019

Butler Street Reserve will close on Monday 8 July for six months as work starts on stage one of the Byron Bay bypass.

The weekly farmers market will be held at the Cavanbah Centre on Ewingsdale Road  and the monthly community market will be held at Dening Park near the Byron Bay Surf Club.

The closure of Butler Street Reserve means there will no longer be all-day parking available on the site.

Phil Holloway, Director Infrastructure Services, said there is alternative all-day parking available on Shirley Street and some side streets.

“We apologise for the inconvenience that the closure of the Reserve may cause some people but unfortunately it is unavoidable as we have the bypass about to start, and with Transport for NSW will also be building the bus interchange in the area as well,” Mr Holloway said.

For information on alternative parking locations go to https://www.byron.nsw.gov.au/Community/Recreation/Parks-reserves-and-playgounds/Butler-St-Reserve .  Drivers are asked to take note of all parking signs to make sure they know if they are in a pay parking area or a free parking area.
