Congratulations to all local business award winners

Northern Beaches Council congratulates the winners of the 2019 Local Business Awards held this week in Dee Why.

Council was thrilled once again to be the major sponsor of the awards, which recognise the outstanding contribution of local businesses to the region.

Business of the Year was awarded to Railsafe Balustrading in Brookvale, while Natasha Lewis of The Hair and Makeup Studio at Collaroy Plateau was named Business Person of the Year.

Council is proud to sponsor the Sustainability Award, which recognises businesses that go above and beyond to reduce their environmental impact.

The 2019 Northern Beaches Sustainability Award went to Manly-based Butcher & The Chef. North Manly-based local manufacturer Dessert Shadow was highly commended.

Council has supported this award for several years and this year there was a record number of applicants, reflecting a ground swell in interest from local businesses in making their operations more sustainable.

This year, Council sponsored for the first time an Inclusion Award.  The Northern Beaches Inclusion Award aims to recognise businesses across the region, which aim to accommodate the needs of all community members regardless of ability.

One in five Australians has some kind of disability, so making a business more accessible for everyone benefits the community as well as the business.

Council believes its sponsorship of the awards will encourage greater awareness about the need for inclusion and accessibility in the community and remind people that being inclusive is valued by Northern Beaches residents.

The inaugural Inclusion Award went to Cordony Hairdressing at Warringah Mall. Highly commended was Plus Fitness in Brookvale.
