Inspiring photographer's exhibition

Published on 12 July 2019

Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library will host an exhibition of images taken by Swan Hill-based photographer, Kristan Emerson.

Featuring photographs taken during trips to India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan and Thailand, Blurry Borders is Mr Emerson’s first exhibition.

Legally blind, Mr Emerson has travelled overseas regularly since 2016, with the exhibition a showcase of the experiences he lived in each of these countries.

“Kristan is an inspiring photographer who does not let his blindness stop him from experiencing the world,” Gannawarra Shire Council’s Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.

“Kristan relies on his limited amount of vision and other senses, especially sound, to take photographs, and the results are stunning.”

Blurry Borders will be on display in the Sir John Gorton Library foyer from Thursday, 18 July to Monday, 29 August.

Mr Emerson will also host two artist talks at the venue on Monday, 29 July at 1.30pm and 5.30pm.
