A total of nine community groups and three committees of Council will be able to complete various programs and projects after successfully applying for grants as part of the 2019/20 Capital Funding for Community Groups and Committees of Council Support Program.

Maroondah Mayor Councillor Rob Steane said the funding would make possible some wonderful projects across the community that would benefit many, while also improving facilities and services across the city.

“The funding will support some great projects and facility improvements with successful applications, including various building upgrades and facility improvements,” Cr Steane said.

“The financial assistance the groups receive via the program will allow them to increase the range of services and programs offered throughout the municipality.

“Council is pleased to be able to assist these groups to complete projects which would otherwise take years of fundraising efforts to deliver,” he said.

Under the 2019/20 Capital Funding for Community Groups program selected projects under $5000 will be funded by Council in full, while projects over $5000 will receive a 50 per cent contribution from Council (with a maximum contribution of $75,000).
