If you had one wish to make your life better, what would it be?

As part of developing our new Children and Families Strategy, Maroondah City Council wants to know what makes our children feel happy, so that we can better support them and enhance their wellbeing.

To do this, Council is inviting children (aged 3 to 12 years) to draw or write a story as part of our ‘Tell us a story’ competition, describing what makes them happy and unhappy, and what they would most like to see if granted ‘one wish’ to make their life better.

Children can then use their imagination to fill in the blanks in the template to show what their one wish looks like.

With the help of a parent or carer, children can submit a story using the template available for download, or pick up a hardcopy template from one of our customer service centres or local library.

Each eligible entry will be entered into a random draw with three entries drawn to win a prize pack, including family pool passes to Aquahub/Aquanation and other pool accessories.

Maroondah Mayor Councillor Rob Steane said ensuring the voices of children are heard is fundamental to the development Council’s new

“Over the next few months, Council will be consulting widely with children and their families and caregivers to find out how we can better meet their needs. Part of this is giving children the opportunity to share with us what makes them happy,” Cr Steane said.

“Our goal is to raise the wellbeing of Maroondah’s children and families, and valuable input and ideas from the community will help us to achieve this together.”
