Small grants are now available through the State Governments Weed Action Fund (up to $5000) for weed control projects. In the Southern Midlands area the following weeds are listed as a high priority for this funding: Chilean needle Grass, Cotton and saffron thistle, serrated tussock, pampas and boneseed. The Southern Midlands Weed Officer can be contacted on 6254 5000 to discuss any funding applications (Due 29th July).

In the 2018-19 State Budget, the Government announced the creation of a new Weeds Action Fund of $5 million over five years commencing in 2018. The funds provided by the Weeds Action Fund (WAF) will be invested with farmers and other community organisations to tackle weeds that are impacting on valuable agricultural and environmental assets.
