To celebrate National Tree Day 2019, the City of Armadale and the Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group (AGLG) are calling for volunteers to assist with the planting of seedlings at Wright Brook in Kelmscott.
City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the entire family are welcome to come along on Saturday 27 July and participate in the planting day.
“Lots of hands are needed again this year, as we have around 4,000 native seedlings to plant.
“This event is an opportunity for locals to make a positive impact on the environment and meet other likeminded people from their community.
“You don’t need to have a green thumb to participate as instruction will be given on the morning,” said Mayor Zelones.
This event is just a small part of a much larger project to restore the foreshore vegetation along the Canning River. This will provide habitat for native wildlife and improve water quality.
Volunteers should bring gloves, a water bottle and wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions on the day, including sturdy shoes.
A yummy morning tea will be provided by the Armadale Kelmscott Lions Club for all those who participate – so join in and meet other local residents at the conclusion of the morning.
The group will meet on Saturday 27 July at the corner of Connell Avenue and Brookside Avenue, Kelmscott from 9am to noon. For more information, contact the AGLG Officer on 0413 883 565.
