The theme of this exhibition is ‘texture’ in its many and varied forms. It brings a rich and broad experience of visual and touch tactility to Pepper Street visitors during SALA. More than 30 artists are being showcased, each reflecting the theme in their own unique style across both two and three dimensional mediums. The smorgasbord of functional and expressive works reveals how the artwork feels to use, touch, wear and how layering and depth in two dimensional works is explored, to great effect.
The many highlights include painted stones by Vicki Bartel, hand woven ceramic bowls by Irene Arvidson, textile vessels by Suzy Gilbert and wearable art such as felt wraps and raw silk dresses by Helen Moon and Alana Preece.
The experience of this exhibition offers joy, wonder and intrigue across the range of mixed media represented including clay, basketry, jewellery, glass, woodwork, textiles, painting, mosaics, wearable art, sculpture and more.
Entry is free and the artworks are for sale, all are welcome.
The exhibition will run until Friday 30 August 2019 closing at 3 pm on the last day.
Pepper Street Arts Centre is located at 558 Magill Road Magill and is open Tuesday to Friday 10 am – 5 pm and Saturday 12 noon – 5 pm.
