Charbray steers sell for 324.2c at Blackall...

Blackall agents yarded 4100 head at their weaner, store and fat sale on Thursday. Cattle were drawn from Blackall, Tambo, Stonehenge, Isisford, Winton, Boulia, Hughenden, Barcaldine and Longreach districts. The fat cattle market was strengthened by six processors operating and the live export buyers once again provided solid competition on the bulls yarded.

Store cattle and feeder cattle were once again in demand with a solid panel of feeder and store cattle buyers present. The store steer and heifer market was up to 20c stronger. Blackall combined agents will be selling next on August 15 when a fat and store sale will be held in conjunction with a BLAA Paddock to Plate Luncheon.

Bulls under 450kg sold to 264c, average 248c, and bulls over 450kg made 278c, average 245c. Cows 300-400kg sold to 190c, average 160c, cows 400-500kg made 255c, average 198c, and cows over 500kg reached 245c, to average 219c.

Heifers under 220kg made 270c, average 244c, heifers 220-280kg sold to 290c, averaging 240c, heifers 280-350kg reached 260c, average 223c, heifers 350-450kg made 277c, average 234c, and heifers over 450kg sold to 280c, averaging 275c.

Steers under 220kg sold to 294c, average 271c, steers 220-280kg sold to 320c, averaging 285c, steers 280-350kg made 324c, average 283c, steers 350-400kg reached 306c, average 278c, steers 400-550kg made 300c, average 281c, and steers over 550kg sold to 300c, average 287c.
