On the look out for a fun activity with the family on the northern beaches this weekend?
With National Tree Day this Sunday, 28 July, look no further.
Council is proudly supporting the concept, which began in 1996 after it was co-founded by famed Grease actress Olivia Newton-John and Planet Ark.
Best known as Australia's largest community tree planting and nature protection event, National Tree Day it is the perfect chance for our tight-knit community to unite together for a great cause.
Council is hosting a couple of National Tree Day events, at Wheeler Heights (South Creek Reserve) and Avalon (Toongari Reserve). Both events will be staged from 10am-2pm.
Gloves, tools and equipment for planting will be provided, as will watering cans/buckets and drinking water.
Once the 'hard yakka' is finished, a BBQ will be put on at both venues as a form of thank you from organisers as well as Northern Beaches Council.
What to bring: A ‘can do’ attitude, suitable clothing and enclosed shoes.
It is also recommended participants register online via the National Tree Day website.
