Council’s Operational Plan Adopted for 2019/20

On Monday night, Wollondilly Council adopted its Operational Plan for 2019/2020, with many exciting projects and programs listed for right across the Shire in the new budget starting from 1 July.
Mayor, Cr Matthew Deeth said, “Council is starting the new financial year off with its biggest ever planned Capital Budget of $22.6m, with a record spend of $15m on roads.”
“This will involve works on busy roads such as Silverdale Road, Remembrance Driveway, Finns Road, Woodbridge Road, Avon Dam Road, Arina Road, Bargo River Road and Tylers Road.”
“Other planned projects include the completion of detailed designs for the upgrading of Prince Street intersections, a Skate Park at Appin, and outdoor fitness equipment in eight locations across the Shire; at Bargo, Wilton, Menangle, Tahmoor, Douglas Park, Buxton, The Oaks and Oakdale,” he said.
The community will see the continuation of master plans for the Cultural, Civic and Community Precinct in Picton, and the Regional Sporting Complex at Tahmoor.
Construction of a $2 million multipurpose building at the Wilton Recreation Reserve will be welcomed by the community, along with the completion of the Inclusive Play Space at Warragamba.
A number of new public amenity blocks will be constructed during the financial year, at locations such as Warragamba and Douglas Park. Families can also look forward to playground upgrades in centres including Appin and Buxton.
Council will also continue to work on projects such as developing Illuminate Wollondilly as the region’s key arts and cultural event, revising local strategic planning statements, and implementing the Koala Plan of Management. The Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy will be also be revised during this period. Council will also be implementing a range of smart city and digital technology strategies and continuing its involvement in the Western Sydney City Deals agreement.
Cr Deeth noted, “I look forward to seeing these and other initiatives being rolled out across the Shire.” “Of course, we will continue to provide ongoing advocacy for the interests of our community on important issues such as transport, the environment and managing growth.”
