Approximately 100 artworks from emerging young artists will be on display at the City of Armadale’s 20th annual Outside the Frame Art Awards exhibition from Saturday 10 to Sunday 18 August.
The free exhibition will showcase contemporary artworks in painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, digital media/photography and mixed media from students in Years 11 and 12 from 20 Perth metropolitan high schools.
City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the exhibition allows the community to celebrate the emerging young talent in the region while showcasing a cultural asset of the community.
“The City recognises the importance for talented young artists to have their works showcased to the public. It is essential to support and develop our young people from the very start of their careers and opportunities like Outside the Frame where students partake in a professionally curated exhibition, visited by hundreds of people from around Perth, will inspire them to continue their skills outside of the classroom”
This year’s exhibition includes students from six local high schools in the City of Armadale including Armadale Senior High School, Carey Baptist College, Cecil Andrews College, Dale Christian School, John Wollaston Anglican Community School, and Kelmscott Senior High School.
“Art is strongly rooted within Armadale’s heritage and culture and every year we see some fantastic artworks created from today’s youth, depicting stories and exploring the themes and issues that are relevant for our younger generation.”
