Batman, Wonder Woman, emergency workers, athletes and everyday heroes could be some of the inspirational characters that will inspire the costumes for this year’s Festival of Fisher’s Ghost street parade.
We Could Be Heroes is the theme for the annual parade that will this year be held at 4pm on Saturday 2 November along Queen Street.
Mayor George Brticevic said he looked forward to seeing the comic book heroes and the local heroes represented at the event.
“It will be a lot of fun and a chance to recognise people who inspire us through their actions. Whether they be your neighbours, volunteers, emergency service workers or a fictional comic character,” Cr Brticevic said.
“The parade has become a vibrant and dynamic opening to the 10 day Fisher’s Ghost Festival celebrations and I look forward to seeing everyone there again this year,” he said.
The Festival of Fisher’s Ghost street parade will begin at the corner of Broughton Street and Queen Street at 4pm Saturday 2 November.
The Festival of Fisher’s Ghost will be held from Friday 1 November to Sunday 10 November and includes a range of events such as the prestigious Fisher’s Ghost Art Award, the Fisher’s Ghost Fun Run, Nerd Con pop culture event, the street fair and carnival.
To participate in the parade, you can enter as a float, vehicle, group, sporting group, dance group, band or as an individual. Information on each of the parade judging categories is included in the online application form.
