Do you have a mate whose contribution to the community should be recognised?

Council is searching for the unsung heroes of Campbelltown to be honoured in the 2020 Australia Day Awards.

The awards recognise the often unheralded work of people who have contributed to a community group, local cause or who have gone the extra mile to help a mate in need.

Mayor of Campbelltown George Brticevic encouraged people to nominate a friend or family member for the awards.

“Australia Day is about celebrating the neighbours we live alongside who make this country such a great place to live in,” said Mayor Brticevic.

“Council’s awards recognise those at a community level whose work may not be glamourous, but whose contribution makes a real difference to the people around them.

“Your mates may not think they are worthy of recognition, but Council wants to celebrate those people.”

In addition to the Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year and Community Group Initiative of the Year Awards, two new awards have been introduced during the 2020 event.

The Disability Community Contribution of the Year Award recognises the contributions of an individual or group towards building an inclusive community that improves the lives of people with disability.

The Environmental Citizen of the Year Award recognises those people or groups who champion litter reduction and/or environmental initiatives in their community.

If you have a mate who deserves to be recognised in Council’s 2020 Australia Day Awards fill out a nomination form.
