Cessnock City Council is pleased to announce applications will shortly open for the Local Heritage Fund. The dollar for dollar grants are available and are valued up to $2000.
Owners and managers of heritage listed properties are eligible to apply for the grants from the 1 August 2019. Owners and managers of properties in Heritage Conservation Areas are also able to make an application for funding.
The purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance to owners or managers of heritage items for conservation projects, maintenance works or Building Code upgrades. Projects which can be funded include:
conservation projects; maintenance works; adaptive re-use projects; interpretive projects; and conservation management plans.Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said Council will also send a letter to eligible applicants.
“We’re proud of our past and assisting in the conservation of heritage listed properties is important. Over the years the grants provided under this program have achieved some fantastic restorations and it will be great to see what projects are successful under this round. Last year’s grant program funded conservation works for the Masonic Hall, Cessnock."
The fund will be administered in accordance with the Council’s Local Heritage Fund Guidelines. These guidelines outline the type of projects that can be funded, who can apply and how funds are to be matched. Applications must be lodged by 25 September 2019.
