Roads and Maritime Services has agreed to reduce the limit from 50kph to 40kph on the busy shopping strip between Urana Road and Kaylock Road/Breen Street. The new limit will come into force from Monday 26 August.
The change has been prompted by safety concerns, especially for pedestrians on the busy and sometimes-congested street, with three pedestrian crossings in that section of road.
The new limit is in line with AlburyCity’s strategies in the Lavington CBD master plan to improve Lavington’s identity and create a neighbourhood heart for the community.
Neighbouring business owners have been advised of the change.
Albury police and council have urged drivers to be aware of the new limit and to drive safely at all times.
