The Shire of York Council is saddened to announce the resignation of Paul Martin, Chief Executive OfficerMr Martin has accepted an appointment as Chief Executive Officer at the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale.
The Council thanks Mr Martin for his achievements over the past three years and wishes him every success in his new position. His efforts implementing change in a challenging environment are highly commendable. The Shire now has an effective organisational structure and the community is enjoying better engagement and increased confidence in the governance of the Shire.
Shire President Cr David Wallace said “Paul has worked hard for York, resolving long standing legacy issues and laying the foundations for our future success. Funding has been secured for major projects and we have the structure and people needed to deliver them. We have seen visitor numbers more than double in the last three years and we are attracting major events to York and regaining our reputation of being a festival town”.

Mr Martin stated, "I have very much enjoyed my time at the Shire of York and I have appreciated the support and commitment of the staff and community to the improvements we have collectively made at the Shire for the benefit of York”.
Over the coming weeks Mr Martin will work with Council to implement its direction to appoint an Acting CEO and a process to recruit a new CEO.
Mr Martin’s final day with the Shire of York is Friday 13 September 2019.
