The City of Parramatta will host its annual community tree-planting day on Sunday 28 July 2019 at Third Settlement Reserve, Winston Hills.
More than 1000 local residents are expected to take part in this year’s National Tree Day event, following the success of the event in 2017 and 2018.
“We are incredibly proud to once again be partnering with Planet Ark for National Tree Day,” City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Andrew Wilson said.
“Protecting and enhancing our natural environment is something we can all contribute to – and planting native seedlings is just one way we can do this. Our annual National Tree Day event encourages the local community to get involved in a fun project that will benefit Parramatta for many years to come.”
This year’s event will be the third and final instalment of a three-year project aiming to plant 10,000 native trees, shrubs and groundcovers along Toongabbie Creek at Third Settlement Reserve in Winston Hills.
Third Settlement Reserve is part of an ecologically endangered vegetation community that serves as a significant wildlife corridor to a number of native animals and birds.
A range of entertainment and food options will also be available on the day, including a native wildlife display, face painting, and a free barbecue lunch for the first 1000 people.
The event will be held from 10am to 1pm at Third Settlement Reserve, Edison Parade, Winston Hills.
