East Gippsland Shire Council’s next Council meeting will be held in Omeo on Tuesday, August 6. A Meet and Greet event will also be held on Monday, August 5 for members of the Omeo Region to speak to Councillors.
At the Council meeting, residents will also have time after the meeting to speak with Councillors.
Attendees can also choose to take part in the meeting’s Public Question Time section, where they can ask Council questions on any topic.
Mayor Cr Natalie O’Connell said the ‘Council In Your Community’ meetings, combined with live streaming meetings, is a move to make council meetings more accessible to the community.
“This year we are holding four meetings outside the Corporate Centre. Omeo is our third of the year, following meetings in Mallacoota and Lakes Entrance," Cr O'Connell said.
"The Omeo Region community showed great support for the meeting we held here last year. I know my fellow Councillors and I really appreciated it and enjoyed talking to residents and business owners before and after the meeting,” Cr O’Connell said.
The meeting will be live streamed on council’s You Tube channel, East Gippy TV.
“East Gippsland Shire covers almost 10 per cent of Victoria. As an unsubdivided municipality, each Councillor represents the whole shire.
"The ‘Council in Your Community’ meetings allow Councillors as a group to focus our attention on one community and learn more about the issues, opportunities, and projects happening in the area,” Cr O’Connell said.
The Ordinary Council Meeting will be held at the Omeo Recreation Reserve from 1pm.
"The agenda will be available from council’s customer service centres and website from 1pm on the Friday before the meeting.
The Meet and Greet will be held on Monday evening from 5-6.30pm at the Omeo Customer Service Centre.
