Community groups and organisations are encouraged to apply for funding through Gannawarra Shire Council’s annual Community Grants program.
Applications for the popular program are now open, with up to $5,000 per application available to support local projects, events and activities.
“Council awarded over $80,000 to 23 community organisations as part of the 2018 Community Grants program, supporting initiatives ranging from building maintenance, equipment upgrades and events,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“Council encourages community groups and not-for-profit organisations to consider applying for their upcoming projects, events and activities.”
Grant applications can be submitted through the online SmartyGrants system, accessible via Council’s website, under the following categories:
Community Event Grants Community Support GrantsMayor Learmonth said the Community Grants program is designed to complement the Gannawarra Shire Council Plan 2017-2021 and help fund community goals for the nine towns and districts located across the Gannawarra.
“Groups looking to apply for funding are urged to first refer to the Council Plan, which can be viewed on Council’s website, and their relevant community profile to ensure their project complements the priorities of the community and Council,” Mayor Learmonth said.
“Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Council to discuss a project idea before submitting a grant application.”
Applications close at 5pm on Saturday, 31 August 2019.
