Council responds to water slide closure announcement

Central Highlands Regional Council is extremely disappointed in the public statement made today by Bobtrac Pty Ltd, lessees of the Emerald Aquatic Centre, of its decision to close the water slides.

To clarify the situation for the community:

The aquatic centre is operated by an independent lessee under contract to the council. Council is not involved in the day-to-day operation of the aquatic centre. Council and the lessee have been engaged in discussion and negotiation regarding the operation of the centre for some months and this has not been resolved. Council appreciates the community’s feedback, suggestions and concerns about the water slides and will continue to work towards an acceptable outcome for all concerned.
