Have your say on Colac Otway’s Community Care services

Do you or a family member receive Colac Otway Shire’s Community Care services?

Council is currently asking people who receive services for feedback about the Community Care service.

More than 500 people in our community receive support through Council’s Older Persons and Ability Support Service (OPASS) which helps them live independently at home.

Council has launched an anonymous questionnaire which will arrive in clients’ letterboxes this week, or can be completed online on Council’s website at www.surveymonkey.com/r/JNF7LW7

Colac Otway Shire Community Services Manager Greg Fletcher said OPASS was a valuable community service and was provided by 34 staff who visited homes across the shire.

“Our OPASS team provides a variety of personal care, home care, transport options, meals and home maintenance depending on their clients’ needs and eligibility, with tailored Home Care Packages delivering individual, flexible support.

“These are important services for our community and it’s essential we evaluate services by asking people whether they are happy with what we do and if they have suggestions of how we can improve what we offer.

“The questionnaire also provides an opportunity for people to suggest if there are additional services that they would like offered through OPASS.”

Colac Otway Shire Council has mailed a hard copy of the questionnaire to clients, and family or friends of clients are encouraged to ask them if they would like help to complete the questionnaire. A reply paid envelope is included with each hard copy questionnaire.

People who receive Community Care can also complete the questionnaire online if they prefer at www.surveymonkey.com/r/JNF7LW7

“This is an opportunity for our Community Care clients to talk about the benefits and raise any issues that will assist us improve or expand our existing services to meet the community’s needs,” Mr Fletcher said.

“So we ask that every client checks their letter box, asks for help if they require assistance completing the questionnaire and gets it back to us at Council.

The survey will close at 5pm Friday 23 August.
