Cabramatta Moon Festival returns with a K-Pop!

Andy Trieu is the host of SBS PopAsia, as well as an actor and martial artist. He will join forces with ZE:A K-Pop idol Kevin Kim on the Blue Star Air Conditioning Stage from 6pm as part of a high-energy evening of pop, dance and audience participation that will also include K-Pop dance team Harmony, DanceKool featuring Niramsin, and rising stars Kookies N Kream.

The evening will be capped off with a spectacular fireworks display at 8pm.

Earlier in the day, children will be wowed with two performances and a meet and greet with the cutest kitty in Cabramatta - Hello Kitty. Join Hello Kitty and her best friends as they sing and dance to some of their favourite songs at 12pm and 2pm with the Hello Kitty Karaoke Show, and they would love it if you joined in too!

A first for the Cabramatta Moon Festival will be the District 8 dining precinct. Stop by the corner of Cabramatta Road West and John Street for a selection of delicious food and refreshing drinks, take a seat and soak in the atmosphere.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said Andy Trieu and Kevin Kim are an exciting addition to this year’s Cabramatta Moon Festival.

“Andy Trieu and Kevin Kim are big names in K-Pop circles and the Australian entertainment scene. After a big day of activities, I’m sure the evening’s entertainment will be popular with them on stage,” Mayor Carbone said.

“Providing family-friendly entertainment is a key to the success of the Cabramatta Moon Festival so I’m especially excited that Hello Kitty and friends will be joining us at the festival. I’m looking forward to seeing children and families singing and dancing along to the music.”

Mayor Carbone said the benefits of the Moon Festival are enjoyed right across the City.

“With more than 90,000 people attending last year, the Moon Festival is always popular among locals and visitors, and it plays a vital role for tourism into the area, not only showcasing our diversity but also attracting visitors, boosting the local economy and creating jobs,” Mayor Carbone said.

More details about entertainment and activities planned for the Cabramatta Moon Festival, now in its 21st year, will be revealed in the coming weeks.

From 9am to 8pm, the streets of Cabramatta will come alive with a variety of fun, family friendly activities and culinary delights, centred around Freedom Plaza and its iconic Pailau gates. Stalls open from 9am, with entertainment from 11am.

The crowd favourites will be returning, including the prawn peeling competition, children’s chopstick challenge, noodle and moon cake eating competitions.

There will also be the traditional lion dance to kick off the celebrations, community performances, market stalls, and the children’s lantern parade led by the Moon Goddess. The celebrations will conclude with a colourful fireworks display.
