Tourmaline Road works to begin this month

Posted on August 2, 2019

The Central Highlands Regional Council will be widening the road shoulder of Tourmaline Road in Emerald from Pritchard Road to the dead-end past Birch Street.

The works will be carried out between 12 and 31 August 2019. They will include boxing out existing shoulders and the import of gravel and bitumen seal to widen the overall running surface of the road from 4.5 m to 6.5 m.

There will be heavy plant operating in the work zone, including large trucks, graders and rollers. Residents are asked to please be mindful of your own safety and that of the contractors as they go about their work.

Traffic management will be in place throughout the project, with one lane closed during work hours. After hours, motorists should be cautious of slippery and loose surfaces. Appropriate signage will be in place.

There will be a provision for pedestrians and cyclists along the outer verge and the bus stop will remain open. Access to driveways will also be maintained at all times.

Please note rubbish collection will be affected during these works. If your wheelie bin collection point is within the work zone, council staff will move it and place it on the opposite side of the road for collection.

Your cooperation and patience during this time is most appreciated.
