The Ulverstone Poultry Club is running a Rooster Day (poultry amnesty) as a community service.
Anyone that has unwanted roosters, or any other unwanted poultry are welcome to bring them along to the Poultry Pavilion on the showgrounds in Flora Street, West Ulverstone (just inside the entrance near the railway line and hardware store).
UPC asks that they be free of disease and people can pop them in a show pen. UPC will either re-home them or have them humanely put down.
This service will be provided for a gold coin donation per bird to help raise funds for the UPC. You are welcome to remain anonymous and a donation box will be set up for your convenience.
UPC offer advice on welfare issues you may have and help sex young birds you are not sure of.
UPC will run this service on Sunday 11 August straight after the annual show on the Saturday. Any queries please contact Ainslee Simpson ph 040 943 9737 or Jill Weaver ph 042 813 8973
There are often older hens donated to the club on out amnesty days so come along and see what is on offer.
Everyone is welcome to come along to the poultry show and have a look at lots of different breeds of poultry, ducks and sometimes geese and turkeys. The poultry show kicks off at 9am and usually finish around 1-30pm or a little later. There will be tea and coffee available to the public and maybe a sausage sizzle.
