Liverpool City Council will begin planning of Stage 2 of the Carnes Hill Community and Recreation Precinct including a 50m indoor pool, a water play park, basketball courts and sports fields.

A master plan will be prepared and presented to councillors by February 2020.

The plan will explore a 50m indoor pool, water play park, two multi-use outdoor basketball courts and two multi-use sports fields.

Stage 1 of the Carnes Hill precinct was opened in 2016, featuring a library, community centre, recreation centre, skate park, tennis courts, café and a children’s playground.

“The Carnes Hill Community and Recreation Precinct is a world-class community facility and Council is looking forward to making it even better,” said Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller.

“Stage 1 of the precinct has been overwhelmingly embraced by the community since its opening in 2016. Locals love their beautiful modern library and community groups are making the most of the wonderful facilities throughout the centre.

“Now Stage 2 will really expand the precinct in every sense, delivering a wealth of high-quality recreational options, both indoors and outdoors.

“This is a great opportunity to enhance one of Liverpool’s finest community facilities and we want to make sure we get it right.”
