The town of Rosedale has undergone an extensive facelift, which was celebrated with an official opening today.
Wellington Shire Council Mayor Alan Hall and Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester gathered with members of the community to celebrate the completion of the Rosedale Civic Renewal Project, incorporating the Willow Park redevelopment.
The $1.56 million redevelopment included new streetscape in Prince St (new footpath, kerb, drainage, line-marking, planting).
The project also included a shared pathway between the town and Willow Park; sealing of Maloney Grove (access road into Willow Park); along with the building of a new toilet block and shelter and associated landscaping and vegetation works at Willow Park.
Willow Park is a well-known and designated RV (Recreational Vehicle) stop-over point.
Wellington Shire Council funded more than $560,000 and managed the project, with funding of $1 million from the Federal Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities.
Wellington Shire Council Mayor Alan Hall said the project was a win for local tourism.
“The main thoroughfare through Rosedale has received an impressive facelift, with locals and tourists all commenting on how inviting the town looks,” he said.
“An attractive streetscape encourages people to stop and spend some time and money in our towns.
“The upgrades at Willow Park are equally as appealing for tourists, with modern facilities for RV users in a beautiful, picturesque location.
“With an easy to traverse new path from Willow Park to the Rosedale CBD, tourists will be encouraged to stay and spend their money locally.”
