Baw Baw Shire Council is undertaking a comprehensive review of its routine road maintenance service and is inviting community input.
Council currently maintains a network of approximately 1,800 kilometres of sealed and unsealed roads across the shire. With road maintenance identified as a priority for residents, Council is reviewing current service levels and response times for all road maintenance activities including pothole repairs, grading, road inspections and more. A key aim of the review is to create an updated Road Management Plan that is aligned with community expectations.
In order to establish a specific and detailed understanding of those community expectations, as well as our road-user’s needs, Council is requesting that all road-using residents complete a 24-question survey that will help identify types and intensities of road use, preferred methods to raise maintenance requests, priority of maintenance types and more.
The survey can be completed online, while hard copies can be collected at Council Customer Service Centres.
If you are unable to complete the online survey or visit a Customer Service Centre, hard copies are deliverable by post upon request by calling 1300 BAW BAW (1300 229 299).
Completed surveys will be accepted until close of business on Friday 30 August 2019.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Cr Mikaela Power“Road maintenance is an issue that residents often raise with Councillors. Your input to the survey will really help us to make sure that the updated Road Management Plan works for road users. The more feedback we get, the more confidence we’ll have that the revised Road Management Plan will hit the target to meet the needs of our community.”
Quotes attributable to Deputy Mayor Cr Danny Goss“We want to get this process right. That’s why we’re involving our residents in this service review at the earliest possible stage. This survey is an opportunity for all residents to have a direct impact on how road maintenance gets done in this Shire. I encourage everyone to take 5 minutes between now and 30 August to fill it out and help Council get the clearest, most detailed picture possible of what our community wants.”
