Mildura Rural City Council’s new Chief Executive Officer Sarah Philpott says she’s looking forward to building on the momentum generated by Council as she commences her new role.
Ms Philpott brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise, with executive roles in both metropolitan and regional Councils in South Australia and Queensland.
“It’s an exciting time to join Mildura Rural City Council as CEO with several major projects either about to start, or being developed, all of which promise to improve the lives and wellbeing of residents in our community,” she said.
Ms Philpott said she was looking forward to working with the Mayor and Councillors and getting to know staff within Council, the broader community, and gaining a greater understanding of issues important to local residents in coming weeks.
“Obviously the diverse role and the challenges it offers were factors in my decision to seek this position, but so too is the location and lifestyle offered by this municipality,” she said.
“While there will certainly be challenges ahead, as there are in any local government area, I’m looking forward to working as an organisation and partnering with our community to meet them head on with the best interests of our residents in mind.”
Before her appointment as Council’s CEO, Ms Philpott was Director of Corporate Services at the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, the third largest metropolitan council in South Australia.
This role included responsibility for financial performance, governance, city strategy development, economic development, urban design, environmental strategy and major projects.
